Three Deep gathers in the office for the quarterly company meeting. Everyone scarfs down delicious pizza in an effort to fuel up before the most important, company-wide competition of the year. Chirps fly as this year’s tournament bracket is projected on the screen and each team’s name is announced. What kind of team name is Blue/Yellow Remix anyway? Dan Woodbeck’s Team and their Green Converse shoes are going down!! When the clock strikes 1, we change into our team shirts and run to our cars to get to the WhirlyBall courts in Maple Grove on time. I LIKE BIG DATA & I CANNOT LIE!

Whirlyball

At this point, you’re probably scratching your head wondering… What in the world is WhirlyBall?! It sounds like a game at the State Fair, or some kind of weird European sport. You’re close…

Let us introduce you to one of Three Deep Marketing’s long-standing traditions! For the last five years, Three Deep has participated in the fantastical, fun-filled Whirlyball Tournament. WhirlyBall is a unique team sport that combines elements of basketball, hockey, and lacrosse—all while riding in a bumper car. It is played on a special court that involves passing a whiffle ball up and down the arena. The object of the game is to hit the buzzing red target (shown in the back of the photo) to score as many goals as you can! Yup, it’s like most sports.

You might think that this sounds incredibly difficult and awkward… you couldn’t be more right!  However, once the teams of Three Deep Marketing employees got warmed up, it brought out the fiercely competitive side in everyone. Bystanders placed bets on the bracket winner over a beer or two, and everyone from the President to the interns could be found shoving and slashing their way to victory.

Three Deep’s track record of returning to WhirlyBall year after year speaks volumes about the culture of the company. Even with busy schedules and deadlines to meet, there is still an emphasis on work-life balance and having fun with your coworkers. We are lucky to work somewhere that hosts events like this for employees all the time! We’re about to indulge in our ‘Friendsgiving’ potluck feast next week, and plans are in the works for a holiday cookie decorating contest and a volunteering event! We’re even thinking about bringing in an outside yoga teacher – I can’t touch my toes, but I’m always down to try something new with my co-workers! We never pass up a chance to have a great time with each other.

We work hard. We make amazing things happen for our clients. But we’re still laid back, fun, and down to earth. At the end of the day, we are all just people who want to be appreciated! We celebrate each other’s wins, recognize hard work, and have true friendships with each other. If this sounds like the kind of place you work  then check out our current job postings or drop us a line! We’d love to hear from you.
